Democratising Democracy

Through space to climb
What's in a dome?

Climbing the 'dome' of the Berlin's Bundestag gives the building over to the public. Millions trudge through on their touristic 'tick box' mission - but the dome stands its own, to give the unsuspecting visitor a twirling and rotating experience of the city; with its slow incline through articulated architectural elements of steel and glass serving up the city and its surrounds for inspection, and reflecting their faces and inflecting their image, into the parliament chamber below.

At night the dome's socio-political place - and its architectural intent - is revealed; as the vertical connectivity of the dome from chamber to sky, is exposed in its every stratum.
