The grapes of innovation, South Australia

Your Blackskivvy Blogger correspondent was in need of a weekend refresh - and the opportunity to explore the world-renown wine region of South Australia.

What are our southern neighbors working on in between the grape harvest? Well it seems, a few design innovations. D'Arenburg in the quaint McLaren Vale is building a rather (controversial) innovative cellar door experience center. Drawing upon the dappled sun-shade of the vines which skirt at its feet, this new building - due to open soon - presents a new twist on the architectural vineyard repertoire.

And while we are at it, innovation also extends into sustainability. A simple recline with your favorite Shiraz is courtesy of an old wine barrel - its curves and soft timber forming rather fashionable timber recliners (with matching coffee table), as documented below.
