Fair Enough: Russia

National identity & development in a trade show.

Neon sign outside, pop style architectural history

Adopting a fictional trade show, visitors to the Russian exhibition this year donned delegate lanyards as they were met by a registration crew and desk inside their Pavilion.

In response to Rem Koolhaas theme, the format of an international trade show interactively present the many architectural developments and innovations; crossing social, historical and
political spheres which Russia has developed over the last 100 years to meet contemporary needs.

The trade show format communicates it's role as an laboratory of ideas and it's opportunity to trade globally.

The subjects were varied, from bath houses, collapsing financial towers and prefabrication housing. The themed stalls completed with associated pamphlets, give further detailed information. Every detail of a trade fair is carried out, at times verging into a pop style of architectural history and research.

The exhibition received a special mention at the official Venice Architecture Biennale awards.
